Sydney Metro Northwest Tunnelling Project - Building Infrastructure recipientsThe $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest is Australia’s biggest public transport project currently under construction and is a priority infrastructure investment for the NSW Government. The $1.15 billion Tunnels and Station Civil Works contract was to build Australia’s longest rail tunnels, excavate five new underground stations and two services facilities. The scope of works included: twin 15km fully lined tunnels between Bella Vista and Epping; excavation of five station boxes at Bella Vista, Norwest, Showground, Castle Hill and Cherrybrook and two services facilities at Cheltenham and Epping; 55 cross passages every 240 metres along the alignment and; two 300 metre mined tunnels at Epping connecting the Sydney Metro Northwest to the existing rail network.
