Royal Far West’s Child and Family Health Service
Premier’s Award for Excellence in Public Service Delivery
Royal Far West
Royal Far West has provided a child and family health service to rural and remote NSW for the past 90 years. The Child Health Strategy and service model known as ‘RFW WAY’ has enabled Royal Far West to deliver comprehensive care and support for children with complex and special needs. The strategy has facilitated strong community connections across a range of local, state and national health care organisations. These improved partnerships have helped Royal Far West achieve a 26% increase in the number and frequency of services delivered, with no increases to their funding. The service model has also helped to raise the capacity of communities to manage family and child health services. Facilities such as cross service video conferencing and the mobile health facility have stretched the reach of Royal Far West in being able to provide children with better access to health services.
